Demonstrating Christ's Love in a Practical Way

The God Narrative

In eternity past, even before God ever created the heavens and the earth, He had a diving design in His mind for everything He would create. You see, the Lord, the only true and living God, is a very intentional God. His design was to display who He is in all of His never-ending value. God created everything and everyone with one and only one purpose: To glorify and enjoy Him forever.

Sadly the first purposefully-created human beings, Adam and Eve, sinned. They sinned in that they did not glorify God as they should have. They treasured, turned to, and trusted in other things and people instead of the One who made and loved them. And this sinning nature and way has been passed down to every single human being who has ever been born of man. This sinfulness (not valuing and glorifying God for who He is and what He does) has left all created humans separated from the peaceful and loving fellowship with their Creator. Thus, all are doomed and destined to spend an eternity in Hell paying the just payment for their sinfulness and sins. This has left all people, on their own, completely without hope.

Yet, when it pleased Him, God the Father sent God the Son, Jesus Christ, down to earth in order that He would further reveal His purpose to His sinful creation. Jesus did this by His completely true teaching. He also did this by living as the most perfect example of how to glorify God in gladly loving Him in humble, faithful, and faith-filled obedience. But Jesus did not stop at that. He also died in the place of all those who trust in Him alone in order to purchase eternal life for them, saving them from Hell and creating once again the peaceful fellowship that man can have with their Creator-God. But the story did not end there either.

For then Jesus, before He went back to the Father in Heaven, did two extremely important things. First, He established the Church as His body to continue His work of lovingly teaching and leading all people to Himself in order that they too may honor God. In doing this, Jesus set up His Church and every local church, giving them the same purpose as those individuals in His Church. And the second thing which Jesus did befre ascending back into Heaven, was that He promised to send to His Church the Holy spirit who would empower and guide them as they sought to fulfill their purpose. The Holy Spirit now empowers every person who is truly saved by Jesus. His empowerment gives them the desire, courage, and ability to fulfill their purpose: Glorifying God.

Therefore, we know that our purpose, as The Church of St. Charles, is to glorify God. We do this by seeking to spread to all peoples of the world the true message that God has created them to glorify God. And specifically that they must have a real and delightful relationship with Jesus as they trust in and submit to Him as the ultimately Supreme One who alone is worthy and in complete control of all things.

Our plan for carrying this out is to proclaim and explain the entire Word of God, especially the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to live and minister by being radically Biblical in all we do. Yet we know that we have no power in and of ourselves, which is why we know that our power to have al of this accomplished is the Spirit’s power working mightily through His Word in and through us as we are radically dependent on Him. Even still, knowing our purpose, having our plan, and even being correctly convinced of where the power comes from, we also need to have the right reasons and the effective cause for doing this. Thus, we are encouraged, motivated, and compelled by one passion: Love. We seek to joyfully love God with all that we are and others as ourselves. And this, only as we are compelled by God’s love for us in Jesus Christ, the only Savior and Lord.
